During Holy Week 2009, April 16-18, an
historical event took place in the Diocese of San Diego. For the
first time in more than 40 years the Sacred Triduum was observed in the
Extraordinary Form of the Classic Roman Rite, commonly known as the Tridentine
Rite. Utilizing the liturgical books of 1962, as modified by Pope
Benedict XVI, the liturgies of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and the Easter
Vigil took place at St. Anne Catholic Church. The following photos
provide a chronicle of those liturgies, as well as the High Mass celebrated
on Easter Sunday.
